Hi all,

I am using Ubuntu and I cannot start the vcftools/bin/vcf-fix-ploidy perl function from here:

It says:

Can't locate Vcf.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.10.1 /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.1 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.10 /usr/share/perl/5.10 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /opt/vcftools/bin/vcf-fix-ploidy line 9.

Ok, i have to add the vcftools/perl directory to PATH:

this does not help.

Furthermore I have no Variable PERL5LIB or PERLLIB, too.

These are my environmental variables, that I have:

      hallo? "rechtfertigen muss"? ich hab nur nachgefragt. das ist ein deutschprachiges forum, was praktisch nur von leuten gelesen wird, die auch deutsch können.
      insofern ist es eher wahrscheinlich, dass du *mehr* leute erreichst, wenn du hier auf deutsch postest.
      
      wenn du schom so empfindlich auf eine einfache nachfrage reagierst und dich auch gleich noch beschwerst, dass ich nichts zum thema der frage sage, na dann kann ich dir nur noch viel glück wünschen.
      
      ich könnte was zur lösung sagen, aber nun hab ich keine lust mehr. es finden sich aber sicher andere leute, wenn du die nicht auch gleich anranzt, hast du vielleicht chancen.

        Naja also von beschweren kann ja keine Rede sein, wenn ich schreibe, dass es schade ist ... Programmierer sind eher selten anglophob.
        
        Um beim Thema zu bleiben: Ist Perl vllt mit einer anderen Umgebungsvariablen verknüpft, oder kann ich eine von Perl verwendete Variable anlegen?

        wie geschrieben existiert PERL5LIB leider nicht. Ebenso wenig wie PERLLIB.
        
        Könnte ich die anlegen? Wenn ja, wie tu ich das, damit PERL sie auch nutzt?

        Du wurdest gefragt, warum du nicht in Deutsch schreibst. Daraufhin fühlst du dich verurteilt und verlangst das alle Antworten nur deiner Problemlösung dienen sollen. Dir wurde erklärt warum es in einem primär deutschsprachigen Forum sinnvoll ist deutsch zu schreiben. Darauf hin beschimpfst du die Leute hier als Rassisten.
        
        Dir ist klar das keinen guten Eindruck macht.

  use lib "/opt/vcftools/PATH/TO/YOUR/VCF/PERL";
  
  if you dont like to patch the files, use exporting a Shell variable.
  
  ~ export PERL5LIB=/opt/vcftools/perl:$PERL5LIB; vcf-fix-ploidy

    that example is a bit misleading, i think. the "/vcf.pm" at the end should not be part of the string for use lib.

    use lib "/opt/vcftools/perl";
    (here the Vcf.pm can be found) unfortunately doesnt change the behaviour. Have I done a major mistake here?
    
    There is neither the PERL5LIB nor PERLLIB environmental variable. I set it (i am using tcsh), but this also doesnt change the behaviour:

    Is it possible, that the PERL process forks and inherits only standard environment variables, forgetting the above introduced ones?

      If you set a environment variable in a shell with command setenv, the variable is only visible for the per process started from this shell!
      
      If you dont want a temporary PERL5LIB, please set the variables in the .tcshrc file residing home path directory.
